17 sittings on the top floor of the Albergo hotel in Monot, painfully accompanied by hours of a Panpipe Moods soundtrack, I looked over the Green Line of Beirut's Damascus Road towards Basta, Hamra - to West Beirut. I set myself the vertiginous challenge of trying to draw every window, and with it the hypnotic meditation that veiled scrutiny brings. What were the lives behind the windows I could see? If eyes are the windows of the soul, what are your balconies, ya Beirut?
