Mawtani
Sold as a museum quality artist’s giclée print in two sizes, on 350g Hähnmuller etching paper, with worldwide shipping available.
Made with ink and gold leaf from the highest point of the Old City of Jerusalem, up the spiral stairs to the top of the spire of the Lutheran Church. I drew this over 4 months in 2015, documenting every window I could see over the Old City, over the Al Aqsa mosque and across to the Mount of Olives.
I used to hear this song at the Damascus Gate on Friday mornings. It seemed to be a mourning, and even without understanding the words it would always move me.Mawtani means homeland. None so beautiful as Palestine ❤️
